Hand in Darkness

Lent.
A time to listen,
to discern God's voice
for yourself.

Sunday Adult Discussion Groups and mid-week gatherings provide times where times of refreshment, fellowship, and listening to that "still small voice" can happen. All members - and guests alike - are encouraged to join a small group, or attend Sunday Adult Discussion groups as a form of their Lenten discipline.

Sunday Mornings

Ignatian Spirituality

Ignatian spirituality is a spirituality for everyday life. It insists that God is present in our world and active in our lives. It is a pathway to deeper prayer, good decisions guided by keen discernment, and an active life of service to others.

During the season of Lent we will be learning about the life of Ignatius, and discovering a new way of getting before the Lord in prayer and adoration which will carry us through every aspect of life.

Other Church Resources to Consider

Traditionally Lent is a time to recalibrate, to realign life with God, to consider how we've drifted, and to return to our first love.

Spiritual Disciplines are often embraced during the 40 days of Lent. They come in all sizes and shapes:

  • Fasting: the deliberate abstaining of foods for the sake of prayer

  • Service: helping others

  • Study: Lectio divina, reading Christian classics

  • Contemplation: examining the activities of your day and seeing where God was greatest, or least

  • Devotion: spending time with God in silence and adoration

  • Special Giving. Consider a Lenten Offering to VOM (Voice of the Martyrs).

These are just a few timeless disciplines Christians have engaged with during this season of Lent.

"This year we will be taking special offerings for Voice of the Martyrs and the persecuted church. Jef DeMarie shares a bit of their ministry and impact around the world."  Jef DeMarie
