Hello to all. We are starting this as a follow-up to a question during our catechism class on how to create a place for an on-going discussion of comments, questions, suggestions and maybe some answers. This is a new thing and needs some time to evolve into a real place of fellowship. Please be patient with us. Thank you!

We always think of Jesus being born in a wooden manger. And indeed it makes sense in a poetic justice sort of way. We then can say, "He came into the world in wood, and left this world on wood (the cross)."
Yet, now we have the understanding that the manger probably was carved out of stone, not wood, as early feeding troughs were. So now we can say with a deeper clarity and even a more poignant punch, "He came in on a carved out stone and left on one, too."
